The O3DS runs at 268MHz, so it's at a clear disadvantage in all cases. While the cores on the Vita are more generally accessible (N3DS gives you 2 core and time slices on the others, whereas the Vita outright gives you three), mGBA is not properly multithreaded, so the core count is mostly irrelevant. The CPU on the N3DS is slightly more powerful than the Vita's, at 804MHz but with an older architecture (ARM11 MPCore), leading to mGBA on N3DS edging out the Vita, since it's CPU-bound. Wikipedia, as it is wont to be, is incorrect in this case, and the citation is from preview hype, not from an actual source. I'm not clear if this is a limitation imposed by the hardware or the kernel, but from usermode, attempts to clock it higher fail. ARMv7 is the instruction set I suppose that was unclear.

While the Cortex-A9 architecture can go up to 2 GHz, the specific implementation of the Cortex-A9 in the PS Vita does not it only goes up to 444MHz. I don't know how the IPC stacks up against these chips, but needless to say, the Wii is a much faster processor overall. But it's also a 729MHz PowerPC core, compared to a 444MHz ARMv7 core.

The real reason it's so great on the Wii is that the Wii has juuuust enough horsepower to run basically all games at full speed. Also the dynarec only works on Linux at the moment. That said, I'll keep developing it and hopefully it'll be up to snuff eventually. I've also started work on a dynamic recompiler however, I seem to be utter trash at optimizing a dynarec so it's currently about 5-20% slower, depending on which game you use. Through two minor fixes recently, it's gotten about 3% faster, but that's nowhere near the performance gain that will be needed to bring mGBA to be full speed on the Vita, and I've run out of places I can get big gains. I've been working on making mGBA faster recently.

If you're still getting it, download a new dev build.) (The frame limiting bug was fixed a few days ago. When games run full speed, the audio is clean, but very few games run at precisely full speed, apart from GB games. Trust me, I know it's horrible, but there isn't a real fix apart from speeding up the emulator. mGBA doesn't do any sort of audio stretching, so what you're hearing is the sound coming out as fast as it can, and gaps when it can't keep up, which leads to the awful mess you hear. It should be worth noting that the sound issues aren't a bug, per se, so much as a side effect of the game running slowly.

MGBA is headache free when it comes to setting up and I believe it could be one of the best emulators for the vita if it gets fixed. Like I said you pretty much have to play with no volume to get an enjoyable experience, but that didn't really matter too much for me. Sword of mana (bigger sprites seem to flicker a tiny bit).Metroid Zero Mission (seemed a tad sluggish at first but I ended up having a lot of fun and didn't even notice the time flying by).Impressive considering what this game did at the time.) Golden Sun (sluggish on the world map and in a few sparse moments, but didn't ruin my experience.Warioland 4 (thought this game was good at first but severely slows down at the end of the level when the portal opens.).Here are a few of the games that I have tested and enjoyed thus far: There are still a lot of great games that play very well if you are willing to forgo sound until a fix comes along.

MGBA is wonderful, the interface flows well and therefore makes it very easy to boot up games, load, and save states. The developer did a great job for going with a simple design. The main problems with mGBA seems to be Framerate and sound, but this doesn't mean that mGBA is bad. There is a lot of potential with henkaku on the scene, so lets take the attention away from vhbl for a bit and talk about mGBA. VHBL is an ok alternative for your gba needs, but I feel using it is a step backwards now that henkaku is here. It served its purpose at the time but I had a lot of trouble with it. I am bringing up this discussion because I have used VHBL/gpsp before and quite frankly didn't like it very much.
